Types of Stainless Steel Coils, Strips, and Sheets We Offer

The AISI defines the following grades, among others:
300 Series, Annealed —austenitic iron-chromium-nickel alloys

  • 301 Stainless Steel – highly ductile; for formed products. Also hardens rapidly during mechanical work.
  • 302 Stainless Steel – same corrosion resistance as 304, with higher strength due to additional carbon.
  • 304 Stainless Steel – the most common; the classic 18/8 stainless steel.
  • 304L Stainless Steel – similar to that of 304, but with superior resistance to intergranular corrosion.
  • 316 Stainless Steel – the next most common; for food and surgical stainless steel uses.
  • 316L Stainless Steel – general corrosion resistance similar to 316, but with superior resistance to intergranular corrosion following welding or stress relieving.

300 Series – Tempered: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and Full Hard

  • 301 1/4 Hard Stainless Steel – 1/4 hard, 301 has a tensile strength of 125,000 PSI minimum, a minimum yield of 75,000 PSI, and elongation in 2 inches of 25% minimum.
  • 301 1/2 Hard Stainless Steel – minimum tensile and yield strengths at 150,000 PSI and 110,000 PSI, respectively, with elongation in 2 inches at 15-18%.

400 Series – ferritic and martensitic alloys
